100 km of ski rail along the Alpine dairy paths and the Great War paths, through the woods and enchanted places

Cross-Country Skiing Centre

The Asiago Highland

is surely the kingdom of trekking, mountain biking, horse riding and the Cross-Country Skiing Center Campolongo represents one of the most fascinating areas of Veneto mountains.

Campolongo Cross-Country Skiing Center is situated in the northern part of the Highland, the one that Mario Rigoni Stern called the “high mountain” area.

Here, at an average altitude of 1.500 meters, it snows abundantly every winter and during long summer days you can enjoy the fresh and intense green of the woods.

The paths of the area

in a magnificent and impressive scene rising to view you can discover the places of the Great War that these mountains have seen, having been the leading character of the tragic events of 1915-18.

Going through woods and pastures surrounded by the green everywhere, you can reach the Highlands of Vezzena and Luserna (TN), their vast and breath-taking scene opens itself along the whirl of paths over 100 kilometers long.

The Forte Campolongo
and the Eco museum of the Great War

The Forte Campolongo, recently renovated, looks directly towards the Val d’Astico

Most of the ski trails and public roads in these mountains were built out of military reasons during the First World War. Walking along them now, in silence of the winter, is also a way to learn the history that marked these places.

Within the project of the Eco Museum of the Great War the trenches and artificial structures of those times have been renovated and rebuilt, they are now accessible, documented and can be visited. Among them, the Forte Campolongo, reachable on foot, on snowshoes or on skis from the Ski Resort. The Forte Campolongo was built between 1912 and 1914 and is situated in a strategic and spectacular point sloping at Val d’Astico at 1720 m. It’s one of the better preserved fortresses of the Highland and it’s the final point of arrival of one of the two Peace Paths that cross the Highland from the Vezzena plain.
